A Feral Agenda…..

Published by feralagenda at 5:57 pm under 1 Edit This

sm_gradybrownjpg.jpgI might as well start from the beginning, that is, that I love all animals ( yes, even snakes!) but I have a thing for cats!

I am especially fond of feral cats, of course,  those cats, who by no fault of their own,  have ended up reverting to their wild state or having been abandoned by their owners,  are left to fend for themselves in the wild.

I am the chairperson of a Trap-Neuter-Return Program in the foothills of North Carolina called Po’Kitties…the website is www.pokitties.com and we are in the process of trying to trap, neuter,  and return many feral cats while at the same time, trapping the kittens and socializing them…..so they may be gotten off the “streets” and into homes.

Hopefully, in the years to come, this will make a difference in the overpopulation of cats and make the lives of some of these offspring, of a higher quality.  It has been proven that TNR programs work to control the populations and often times also control the diseases that are sometimes found in feral colonies.

IN actuality, we have found very few unhealthy feral cats….I think a total of 2 that were gravely ill that had to be euthanized…the majority of all the cats we have trapped have been extremely healthy.  Even our vet has been amazed!

This blog will be about any and all things cat.  Any one is welcome to ask questions about TNR or cats and if any of you have feral colonies, please feel free to share with us….together we can get so much more done and learn from each other.

Thanks for reading!
